KINGSTON, R.I. – Freshman Jake Baker notched his first career collegiate event win as the Holy Cross men's track & field team returned to action on Saturday at the URI Invitational at Mackal Field House in Kingston.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

• Baker won the weight throw with a mark of 17.04m as he registered the distance on his fourth attempt. Senior Michael Laflamme added a fourth-place finish in the event for the Crusaders at 16.48m, while sophomore Josh Dymond took ninth with a mark of 14.00m.
• Elsewhere in the field events, Baker finished ninth in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 14.09m and sophomore Tireni Asenuga took ninth in the long jump as he notched a mark of 6.56m.
• In the 500 meter dash, senior Luke Boothroyd placed fourth as he clocked a time of 1:07.43.
• Freshman Matt Shaw finished ninth in the 400 meters in a time of 52.66 seconds.

• Holy Cross returns to action tomorrow for the Suffolk Ice Breaker Invitational that will get underway at 9:30 a.m.
