WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior goaltender
Abby Hornung has been selected to the 2025-2026 National Women's Goalie of the Year Award Watch List, as announced by the Women's Hockey Commissioners Association.
On the year, Hornung stands 10-5-1 with two shutouts, a 1.51 goals against average and a .940 save percentage. She currently ranks fourth in the nation in goals against average and seventh in save percentage. Over the course of her collegiate career, Hornung has a 17-21-4 record with a 1.78 goals against average and a .940 save percentage.
Hornung is one of nine goaltenders from Hockey East to be selected, along with Sedona Blair (New Hampshire), Grace Campbell (Boston College), Tia Chan (Connecticut), Zoe Cliche (Vermont), Lisa Jönsson (Northeastern), Kiia Lahtinen (Maine), Noemi Martinez (New Hampshire) and Mari Pietersen (Boston University).
This initial "Watch List" of outstanding goalies is comprised of those with a goals-against average of 2.20 or lower or a save percentage of .923 or higher. A committee of voters — made up of a cross-section of coaches, administrators and media — will pare this list down within the next two weeks and then ultimately choose the winner who will be announced in March during the NCAA Frozen Four.
Holy Cross currently owns an overall record of 15-7-1, while standing in third place in Hockey East with a mark of 7-6-1 in conference play (24 points). The Crusaders return to action at Boston University on Saturday, Jan. 17, at 4 p.m.
