LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Holy Cross women's tennis team run at the 2026 Patriot League Championship Tournament came to an end in the Quarterfinal round as they suffered a 4-0 defeat to top-seeded Boston University Friday morning at the Bucknell Varsity Tennis Courts.
The Crusaders finished 2026 with a 4-16 record while the Terriers, winners of five straight level their record at 9-9. The four wins for Holy Cross were its most since the 2022-23 season (6). The Terriers advance to the Patriot League Semifinals and will take on #4 Lehigh.
DOUBLES PLAY:
- The Terriers had victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to bring home the doubles point.
- Freshmen Phoebe Devine and Margaret Winiecki were tied 3-3 at No. 1, but the match went unfinished.
SINGLES PLAY:
- BU rattled off three singles victories at No. 6, No. 1 and No. 5 to advance to the semifinals.
- Senior Maddie Hamm was ahead of her opponent at No. 4 6-3, 4-1, however the Terriers clinched the win.
