Brody Gagno, and freshman
Matt Kursonis earned Atlantic Hockey Goaltender, Defenseman, and Rookie of the Week, respectively, following the semifinal round, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
Gagno assisted on the overtime winner on Friday, blocked four shots, and finished the weekend +4. He helped the penalty kill unit hold Army to 1-for-8 (.125) on the weekend, keeping the Crusaders at an NCAA-leading 90.4% on the season.
Gale broke and extended the Crusaders' single season victories record this weekend with his 23rd and 24th wins on the season, finishing the series with an incredible 1.46 goals-against average and .960 save percentage. Gale made a career-high 45 saves in the overtime game on Friday, following it up with a 29 save performance on Saturday. Of the three goals that Gale allowed in the two games, two were even strength and one was on a five-on-three.
Kursonis got the scoring started just 1:49 into the game on Friday and followed it up with the first goal of the game on Saturday at the halfway point on the power play. He finished the weekend +1 and helped the power play unit to a 2-for-5 (.400) mark on the weekend.
Gagno, Gale, Kursonis, and the No. 1-seed Crusaders (24-13-2) will host No. 3-seed Bentley in the Atlantic Hockey Championship game on Saturday, March 22 at 7 p.m. at the Hart Center Rink.
