Women's Basketball

Women’s basketball to face Lafayette on Wednesday

The Holy Cross women's basketball team will square off versus Patriot League opponent Lafayette on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 6 p.m. in the Kirby Sports Center. The contest will be broadcast regionally on NBC Sports Philadelphia and streamed live through ESPN+.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (15-9, 8-5 PL): 
  • The Crusaders have lost four of their last five games including a 69-59 setback to Lehigh in overtime on Saturday. Junior forward Meg Cahalan scored a game-high 18 points with seven rebounds and a pair of three-pointers while senior forward Lindsay Berger double-doubled for the third time this season and ninth time in her career with 15 points and 13 boards to go with two steals.
  • During 13 conference games, Berger has been a force in the paint. She ranks second in the league in field goal percentage (54.4 percent), tied for fourth in blocks per game (1.0), eighth in scoring (12.3) and tied for ninth in rebounding (5.8). She has nine double-digit point games across her last nine contests.
  • Junior guard Simone Foreman returned to action on Saturday after missing nine games due to injury. Foreman came off the bench and played 18 minutes of action scoring two points with four rebounds. Before injury, Foreman was the Patriot League leader in free throw percentage (86.8), ranked third in scoring (16.1), tied for third in steals per game (1.9), was fourth in rebounds per game (8.1), fifth in double-doubles (4), and fifth in field goal percentage (41.3%).
  • The Crusaders have only had their shot blocked 40 times this season which is tied for the fourth fewest in the NCAA with Princeton.
  • Per Her Hoop Stats, the Crusaders do a solid job boxing out on the defensive glass as they rank 10th in the nation in opponent offensive rebounds per game (8.5).
SCOUTING THE LEOPARDS (7-17, 4-9 PL): 
  • Lafayette has won two of their last three games, but fell to Bucknell 62-51 in Lewisburg on Saturday afternoon. Teresa Kiewiet scored a team-high 13 points with two boards in the setback.
  • Abby Antognoli is the Patriot League leader in minutes per game (36.3) which ranks 15th in the NCAA. She ranks second in the Patriot League in assists per game (3.7), third in assists (89), three-pointers (53), three-point percentage (36.1) and three-pointers per game (2.2).
  • As a team, Lafayette ranks second to last in the nation (352nd of 353rd) in turnovers forced per game (11.9), they also rank second to last in free throw attempts per game (9.1), but rarely foul opponents coming in at first in the country in fouls per game (12.1) and ranks 12th in free throw percentage (78.5).
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • The Crusaders are 68-12 (.850) in the series history against the Leopards which began in 1986. Holy Cross is 34-8 (.810) against Lafayette in on the road.    
  • In their last meeting on Jan. 11, 2025, the Crusaders earned a 75-69 win. Four players reached double-figures for Holy Cross including sophomore guard Kendall Eddy who scored a career-high 19 points. Lindsay Berger (16 points, 12 rebounds) and junior guard Kaitlyn Flanagan (11 points, 10 assists) double-doubled in the contest as well.
