BOSTON, Mass.— The Holy Cross men's track and field teams competed at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University at the BU Track & Tennis Center on Friday, Feb. 14. Junior captain Liam Lyons broke the 11-year-old 1000m school record for third place in the event.

MEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

• Lyons broke the 11-year-old 1000m record with a time of 2:21.16 to clinch third in the event (second of college runners). The previous record (2:25.48) was set by Sam McGrath on Feb. 8, 2014, at the very same meet.
• Sophomore Tristan Miller took second in the 400m open (48.72).
• Sophomore Logan Mott claimed third in the triple jump (13.62m).
• Senior captain Josh Exantus took fourth in the 60m hurdles final (8.24). Fellow senior captain Brian Fennelly also competed in the final, finishing in sixth (8.41).
• Senior Kevin Yatsuhashi hit a 1.83m mark in the high jump for fourth place.
• Freshman Tireni Asenuga came in fifth in the long jump (6.48m).
• Freshman Josh Gentchos placed sixth in the 60m dash final (6.98).

NEXT UP:

• The Holy Cross track and field teams return to action when they head to Providence, R.I. to compete at the Brown Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 22.
