BOSTON, Mass./Providence, R.I. – Four different members of the Holy Cross women's track & field team won individual event titles to lead the way for the Crusaders in the indoor season opener on Saturday.

The Crusaders had athletes compete at both the Alden Invitational hosted by Brown and the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener hosted by Boston University.

ALDEN INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS:

• Holy Cross finished second in the team standings with 129 points as junior Shannon Briseno, sophomore Lily Deforge and seniors Abby Granrath and Celia Kulis each won their respective events.
• Briseno won the pole vault with a mark of 3.60m, Deforge captured the shot put with a toss of 12.88m, Granrath took first in the mile in a personal-best time of 5:07.67 and Kulis matched her personal-best to win the 60 meter hurdles in 8.55 seconds.
• Granrath's mile time surpassed her previous personal record of 5:12.25 that had been set at the URI Invitational on Jan. 18, 2025.
• Kulis added a second place finish in the high jump at a mark of 1.56m and Deforge placed fifth in the weight throw with a personal-best mark of 15.83m, more than a meter ahead of her previous best at 14.15m.
• Freshman Megan Moran took second behind Granrath in the mile with a time of 5:07.92 and classmate Allie Kaull finished fifth in 5:15.25.
• The Crusaders also occupied three of the top five spots in the 1,000 meters as sophomore Chloe Dibb took second in a personal-best time of 3:04.37, senior Fiona Doherty finished third in 3:05.48 and sophomore Anna Stolarick placed fifth in 3:11.78.
• Senior Giavanna Ciaravino finished fourth in the 60 meter dash in 7.76 seconds and junior Annabel Murray took sixth in the 600 meters with a time of 1:38.64.
• In the field events, Holy Cross took the top four spots in the pole vault as a trio of juniors in Bridget Sachs (3.40m), Alyssa Peasley (3.40m) and Maggie O'Reilly (3.25m) finished second, third and fourth respectively behind Briseno.
• Senior Ester Mokonchu placed second in the weight throw with a mark of 16.88m and freshman Frankie Spagna finished third in the triple jump at 11.19m.
• Following Deforge in the shotput was junior Gabby Paolella in fourth place with a mark of 12.17m.

SHARON COLYEAR-DANVILLE INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS:

• A pair of Crusaders competed in the Sharon Colyear-Danville Invitational hosted by BU as senior Alex Lusby finished ninth in the 600 meters (1:35.85) and sophomore Abby Desmarais placed 11^th in the 300 meters (39.69).

UP NEXT:  

• Holy Cross will compete in the Dartmouth December Invitational on Dec. 12 and 13.
