Women’s tennis felled by Wagner

QUEENS, N.Y. — The Holy Cross women's tennis program was downed 7-0 by Wagner in non-conference play at Flushing Meadows Park Saturday afternoon in Queens, N.Y.

The loss snaps a two-match winning streak for the Crusaders as they fall to 2-1 early in the season while the host Seahawks remained undefeated at 2-0.

DOUBLES ACTION:
  • Wagner started the day earning victories at no. 2 and no. 3 doubles to take the doubles point.
  • Holy Cross earned a 6-3 win at no. 1 as freshmen Phoebe Devine and Hannah Flynn picked up the victory.
SINGLES PLAY:
  • The Seahawks swept the singles matches to claim the overall victory
  • Devine almost pulled off a win at no. 1 falling 7-5, 6-4.
  • Freshman Margaret Winiecki battled at no. 3 dropping the match 6-4, 6-3.
NEXT UP:
  • The Crusaders are back in action for ITA Regionals on Thursday, Oct. 9 at noon.
