BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Freshman Phoebe Devine of the Holy Cross women's tennis team advanced to the second round to lead the Crusaders at the Patriot League Intercollegiate Tennis Association Masters Qualifier on the campus of Lehigh Friday.  

SINGLES ACTION:

• Devine, the No. 4 seed, competed in the opening round of 32 and upended Sophia Pacheco of Lafayette 6-3, 6-7 (7-9) 6-2.
• In the second round she faced No. 1 seeded Jiayi Liu of BU and fell 1-6, 6-4, 3-6.
• Classmate, freshman Hannah Flynn also competed in the first round and was narrowly downed 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 by Victoria Epps from Loyola (Md.).

DOUBLES PLAY:

• Devine and Flynn were the No. 4 seeded doubles duo and were upended 8-3 by the No. 4 seed Epps/Christine Richiez Loyola (Md.) combination.
