Men’s ice hockey returns home to face Robert Morris in two-game set

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team returns home to welcome Atlantic Hockey opponent Robert Morris to the Hart Center Rink on Friday, Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 11 at 6 p.m. Both games will stream live on FloHockey and NESN+.

THE CRUSADERS (8-11-1, 7-4-1 AHA):
  • Holy Cross is set to return to Atlantic Hockey play in their only two home games in January when they face Robert Morris at the Hart Center Rink.
  • Holy Cross opened their second half schedule with a trip to East Meadow, N.Y. for a one-game matchup with Long Island University on Tuesday, Dec. 31, falling to the Sharks, 3-1.
  • The Crusaders then traveled to Palm Springs, Calif. for the inaugural Cactus Cup, where they lost back-to-back overtime heartbreakers to Omaha and Michigan Tech.
  • Following the Cactus Cup, sophomore Jack Stockfish and freshman Matt Kursonis were named Atlantic Hockey Forward and Rookie of the Week, respectively.
  • Stockfish finished the Cactus Cup weekend with three points on two goals and an assist. His .667 (11-16) faceoff win percentage on Saturday led both sides.
  • Kursonis picked up his first two collegiate points on Friday against Omaha, including his first collegiate goal.
  • Of netminders with 15+ games played in Atlantic Hockey, Gale's .920 save percentage and 2.43 goals-against average rank second in the league.
  • Holy Cross' kill percentage of 91.1% is the second best mark in Atlantic Hockey and ranks fourth in the nation, posting a 72-for-79 success rate.
  • On the other side, the Crusaders have converted on 20.6% of their power play opportunities, which is tied with Atlantic Hockey rival Bentley for 29th nationally.
     
SCOUTING ROBERT MORRIS (8-9-2, 5-5-1 AHA):
  • Robert Morris enters the contest with a 5-5-1 record in Atlantic Hockey contests, placing them in sixth in the standings, just two points behind Holy Cross.
  • The Colonials also headed west for the new year, facing #19/20 Arizona State (L, 3-7) and UMass (L, 0-8) in the ASU Desert Hockey Classic.
  • Prior to the tournament, Robert Morris went 4-2 in their Atlantic Hockey contests dating back to Nov. 29. The Colonials outscored opponents 24-15 over the stretch.
  • Sophomores Walter Zacher and Tanner Klimpke lead the team with 17 points each, while Zacher leads the team with 11 goals.Sophomore Michael Craig leads in assists with 13.
     
ALL TIME SERIES:
  • The two teams have met 33 times, with the Colonials leading the all-time series, 20-10-3.
  • The two teams last met for a two-game set in Moon Township, Pa., on Oct. 20 and 21, 2023. Robert Morris won the first night, 3-1, before the two teams tied in regulation, 3-3 on the second night. The Colonials took the shootout, 1-0.
