Senior linebacker
Frankie Monte of the Holy Cross football team has been named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week, as announced on Monday, Sept. 23.
Monte recorded a career-best 17 tackles, including 10 solo tackles, as the Crusaders came up just short in a setback against Yale on Saturday, Sept. 21. He also recorded a quarterback hurry. His 17 tackles are the most by a Patriot League player this season.
This season, Monte ranks second in the Patriot League and tied for seventh among all FCS players with 40 total tackles.
Monte is now a two-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week honoree in his career.
The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, Sept. 28 with a matchup at FBS foe Syracuse. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
