WORCESTER, Mass. — The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team fell to Colgate, 18-8, on Saturday at Fitton Field.
 
With the win, Colgate improves to 8-5 (5-2 Patriot League), while the Crusaders move to 2-10 (0-8 Patriot League).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Colgate got out to a 4-1 lead in the first eight minutes before freshman Luca Ward scored twice and senior Matt Major picked up his first goal of the game to tie the game at 4-4 going into the quarter break.
• A 9-0 run for Colgate over the second quarter into the third, broken up by an up-goal by Major, followed by two more Raiders scores, brought the score to 15-5 through three quarters.
• Major scored all three of the Crusaders' goals in the fourth quarter, finishing the day with six points on five goals and an assist. His six points and five goals are both career highs for a single game for Major, who leads the team with a career-high 24 points on 21 goals and three assists.

BEYOND THE BOX:

• Senior Dawson Friers finished the afternoon in net with 14 saves.
• Senior Connor DePiero recorded 18 faceoff wins, finishing the afternoon with a .620 win percentage, five ground ball pickups, and a caused turnover.
• Sophomore Michael Rincon led the defense with eight ground ball pickups and a caused turnover.

UP NEXT:

• Holy Cross will travel to Syracuse, N.Y. to face Le Moyne in their final game of the regular season on Thursday, April 25.
• Game time is set for 4 p.m.
