BLOOMFIELD, Conn. — The Holy Cross women's golf team finished in second place at the Hartford Hawks Spring Invitational hosted by the University of Hartford at the Tumble Brook Country Club.
Senior Liz Garfield paced all Crusaders firing a 75 in the first round on day one and 76 in the second round on the final day of play for a 151 (+7) performance which gave her a second place finish.
After two rounds of the 36-hole course, the Crusaders finished with a score of 639 (+70) as a team.
COACH'S CORNER:
"What a great job at Hartford the last two days in very tough conditions," said director of golf Steve Napoli. "Very proud Liz Garfield on her second place finish. Her reaction to holing out on 18 for an eagle reminded me of Tom Watson's reaction when he holed out on #17 at Pebble Beach to beat Jack Nicklaus many years ago."
UP NEXT:
- The Crusaders return to action on Sunday, April 14 to face Boston University in match play at Wanumetonomy Golf & Country Club in Middletown, R.I.
