WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team fell to Loyola (Md.), 15-6, on Saturday at Kuzniewski Field.

Loyola improved to 6-6 and 4-2 in the Patriot League, while Holy Cross moved to 2-9 overall with an 0-6 Patriot League record

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• Loyola got out to a 4-1 lead in the first eight minutes of the opening quarter before Holy Cross went on a 3-0 run to tie the game at 4-4 before the end of the quarter.
• Senior John Mitchell and freshman Luca Ward picked up goals, while freshman Sam McDonald picked up the first two goals of his collegiate career during the quarter.
• Loyola scored two goals to open the second before senior Matt Major picked up his 12th goal of the season.
• Loyola went on a 9-0 run over the end of the second quarter through the third quarter.
• Junior Henry Sheehan scored the lone goal of the fourth quarter for either side.

OUTSIDE THE BOX:

• Senior Connor DePiero finished the day 14-25 at the faceoff X with four ground balls.
• Six different Crusaders picked up a caused turnover.
• The goalkeeping duo of senior Dawson Friers and sophomore JR Long combined for 12 saves.

UP NEXT:

• Holy Cross will take the field at Fitton Field for the first time in decades when they face no. 20 Colgate on Saturday, April 20.
• Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
