WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross volleyball junior Abbie Lane and sophomore Katie Russell are set to participate in the 2024 U.S. Women's National Team Open Program in Colorado Springs, Colo.
 
The program which takes place at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center runs from Feb. 23-25. The WNT Open Program (WNTOP) is used for consideration for selection to both the Women's National Team and the Women's Collegiate National Team (WCNT). The WNTOP and WCNT allow our Women's National Team staff to observe the highest potential athletes with and against one another.

As a junior, Lane ranked second on the Crusaders in kills (234), kills per set (2.85), points (256.0) and points per set (3.12). She ranked eighth in the Patriot League in kills per set, ninth in points, ninth in points per set and 10th in kills this past season. A 2023 FAU All-Tournament Team selection, Lane had seven double-doubles. Off the court, she planned and promoted the Deaf* Awareness Game at Holy Cross and was featured in the NCAA Tournament Championship program.
 
Russell, a sophomore setter played in 22 matches for the Crusaders finishing second on the team in assists (258). She recorded her first career double-double with 15 assists and 11 digs with an ace against NJIT (Sept. 9). A few matches later, Russell established a new career-best with 23 assists at Lafayette (Sept. 15) and matched that mark against American (Sept. 22).
