Women’s basketball heads north to Vermont Saturday

The Holy Cross women's basketball team continues their road trip on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. against nonconference opponent Vermont in Patrick Gymnasium. The contest will be streamed live on ESPN+.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (2-1, 0-0 PL): 
  • Holy Cross rallied from a nine point first quarter deficit to defeat Brown 68-53 Wednesday evening in Providence. Junior Simone Foreman scored a career-high 20 points with nine boards and three steals while sophomore Kendall Eddy chipped in 14 points and personal-best five caroms in 24 minutes off the bench.
  • Along with Foreman and Eddy, two other Crusaders established career-highs against Brown, junior forward Meg Cahalan handed out five assists and senior Lauren Huber matched a personal-best with six points and five rebounds.
  • The Crusaders have begun a season 2-0 on the road for the first time since 2013-14. The last time Holy Cross started a season 3-0 away from the Hart Center was 1996-97 (5-0).
  • Junior guard Kaitlyn Flanagan paces the Patriot League and ranks 16th in the nation in assists per game (6.7) and is 19th in the country in assists (20).
  • Over the last three seasons, Holy Cross is 28-22 (.560) on the road compared to 38-11 (.776) at home in the Hart Center Arena.
SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS (1-2, 0-0 AE): 
  • Vermont has lost two straight contests including a 58-53 decision to Providence on Tuesday evening. Anna Olson and Catherine Gilwee scored 12 points apiece in the setback.
  • The Catamounts were slated to finish third in the America East Women's Preseason Poll. Anna Olson was named Preseason All-Conference for the fourth straight season after earning America East all-defensive and second-team accolades last year.
  • The Catamounts are coming off a long run in the WNIT during 2023-24. They reached the WNIT Fab 4 falling 57-54 to Saint Louis.
  • Vermont has struggled to rebound in the early stages of 2024-25, they rank 342nd out of 349 teams in the NCAA in rebounds per game (28.7). They are also 337th in bench points per game (10.0). Per Her Hoop Stats, Vermont ranks dead last in the NCAA in pace averaging 60.3 possessions per game.
  • The Catamounts have amassed a 45-11 (.804) record in Patrick Gymnasium over the last five campaigns.
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • Holy Cross is 9-11 (.450) in the series against Vermont which began in 1982. The Crusaders are 3-7 (.300) against the Catamounts on the road. Their last win in Burlington was on Nov. 28, 2018.
  • In their last meeting on Dec. 3, 2023, the Catamounts held on for a 46-44 win in Burlington. Kaitlyn Flanagan scored 12 points with four rebounds and two assists while Bella Vito double-doubled with 10 points and 11 boards for the Catamounts.
