Men’s swimming and diving opens season at BU

BOSTON – The Holy Cross men's swimming and diving team started their 2024-25 season on the road with a Turnpike Trophy contest at Patriot League opponent Boston University and fell 204-90 Saturday afternoon.

The loss sends the Crusaders to 0-1 and 0-1 in league action while the Terriers are 1-0 and 1-0 in conference meets.

Sophomore Austin Cutcher picked up a pair of first place finishes. He hit the wall first in the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:46.99) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:49.16).

Junior Jack Greiner finished first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.90) adding two second place showings in the 200-yard backstroke (1:54.47) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:11.64).

Junior Zach Bubonovich placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (57.89) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:09.75).

In the diving events, freshman Griffin Casey totaled a 310.95 score (three meter) and a 271.43 (one meter) in his first collegiate meet.

Holy Cross will be back in action on Friday, October 25 at 4 p.m. for their home opener against Iona in the Hart Center Pool.
