The Holy Cross men's basketball team returns home this week to play host to Lafayette on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at 7 p.m. on Big Brothers Big Sisters Night. The contest between the Crusaders and the Leopards will be shown live by the Patriot League on ESPN+.
Holy Cross stands 4-13 overall this year with a 1-3 mark in Patriot League play. The Crusaders are coming off a 69-66 overtime victory at Lehigh on Saturday. Senior guard
Joe Octave leads the team with averages of 15.0 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, while hitting 44.9 percent of his field goal attempts. Junior forward
Caleb Kenney has posted 10.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game, with sophomore guard
Will Batchelder putting up 8.8 points, and 1.6 assists per contest and freshman forward
Joe Nugent adding 6.9 points and 4.8 boards per game.
Lafayette has an overall mark of 5-12 this season, and currently stands in first place in the Patriot League with a 4-0 record in conference play. In their last game, the Leopards defeated Navy 78-62 on Saturday. Junior center Justin Vander Baan leads the team with averages of 10.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game. Senior guard Eric Sondberg is also enjoying a solid year, with averages of 9.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
After the contest with Lafayette, Holy Cross will remain at home to face Loyola (Md.) on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 2 p.m.
