Ahana Nagarkatti picked up wins in both singles and doubles action, but the Holy Cross women's tennis team was defeated by Assumption 5-2 at the Assumption Tennis Courts. The Crusaders open the season at 0-1, while the Greyhounds begin the year at 1-0.
DOUBLES ACTION:
• At the No. 2 spot, Nagarkatti and freshman
Alison Lynn picked up a 6-4 victory over Caroline Mader and Caitlin Sze.
• Assumption won the No. 1 and No. 3 matches to earn the doubles point.
SINGLES PLAY:
• Sophomore
Ashley Zilora earned a 5-7, 6-3, (11-9) victory over Marie Knispel at No. 1
• Nagarkatti downed Jill Schoeneich 3-6, 7-5, (10-4) at the No. 4 spot.
• The Greyhounds won the remaining four singles matches to claim the overall victory.
NEXT UP:
• Holy Cross returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 13, when it travels to Stonehill for a 4 p.m. match.
