Women's track and field set two records at Holy Cross Invitational

WORCESTER, Mass. — The Holy Cross women's track and field team tallied 122.33 points to claim a second-place finish at the Holy Cross Invitational on Saturday.

Sophomore Ella Grey and senior Obiamaka Igwenagu both set program records in their respective events. 

TRACK HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Senior Eve Feuerbach clinched first in the 5000m run with a time of 17:21.47, finishing 20 seconds faster than second place. Her teammate, sophomore Caroline Gage, earned sixth with a time of 18:22.87.
  • Senior Peighton Stirt claimed fourth in the javelin throw with a mark of 30.63m.
  • Sophomore Haley Murphy finished second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:03.21.
  • Freshman Alex Lusby placed fourth in the 800m run with a time of 2:14.90. Sophomore Abby Hughes earned sixth at 2:17.96. 
  • Freshman Giavanna Ciaravino earned fourth in the 100m dash with a time of 12.22.
  • Senior Kate Ashley earned third in the 400m dash with a time of 56.58. Junior Kiley Ronan earned seventh at 58.57.
  • Grey broke the school record in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.07, placing second. The previous record was set by Erin Linnehan '12 in 2011. Freshman Celia Kulis earned third (14.26), sophomore Jane Feeney placed sixth (14.97) and junior Lauren Clark earned eighth (14.99).
  • Senior Carly Robinson earned third in the 1500m run at 4:45.65. 
  • In the steeplechase, freshman Abby Grantrath earned sixth with a time of 7:36.52, followed by junior Maura Doherty in seventh at 7:36.81. 
  • The 4x400 relay with Ashley, Murphy, Ronan and junior Lindsay Marjanski placed first with a time of 3:55.80.
  • The 4x100 relay with Ashley, Ciaravino, Ronan and Grey placed second with a time of 48.02.
FIELD HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Igwenagu set a program record in the triple jump at 12.36m, breaking her own record from last season to earn a first-place finish. Senior Krishiana Ramesh earned seventh with a mark of 10.59m.
  • Igwenagu claimed second in the long jump at 5.51m. She was followed by Grey in fourth (5.44m) and Clark in eighth (5.16m).
  • Marjanski placed second in the high jump with a mark of 1.60m. Feeney and Kulis tied for fifth at 1.50m.
  • Senior Annie Lineberger won the pole vault with a mark of 3.80m. Freshman Sienna Moore earned fourth at 3.35m and junior Brenna McCormick placed seventh at 3.35m.
NEXT UP:
  • The Holy Cross women's track and field team returns to action of Saturday, April 29. The team will travel to North Easton to attend the Skyhawk Invitational hosted by Stonehill.
