The Holy Cross men's basketball team returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 14, when it takes on Sacred Heart in its home opener at 7 p.m. The contest between the Crusaders and the Pioneers will be shown live by the Patriot League on ESPN+.
Holy Cross stands 1-1 so far this year, after defeating Georgetown 68-67 on Saturday night. Senior guard
Joe Octave leads the team with averages of 19.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, while hitting 56.0 percent of his field goal attempts. Senior guard
Bo Montgomery has added 16.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per contest, while freshman forward
Joe Nugent is chipping in with 10.0 points and 4.0 boards per game.
The Crusaders are entering their first year under new head coach
Dave Paulsen, and are coming off a 2022-2023 campaign in which they went 10-22 overall and 7-11 in the Patriot League.Â
Sacred Heart stands 1-1 so far this season, dropping its last game 88-81 at Iona on Friday. Senior forward Nico Galette has led the Pioneers with averages of 22.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per contest, and had knocked down 71.4 percent of his three-point attempts. Last year, Sacred Heart went 16-17 overall and 8-8 in the Northeast Conference.
After the game with the Pioneers, Holy Cross will travel to Rock Hill, S.C., to take part in the Winthrop Invitational from Nov. 17-19.
