Women's track and field takes second at UMass Invitational

AMHERST, Mass.— The Holy Cross women's track and field team placed second overall at the UMass Invitational on Sunday, April 3 to begin the outdoor season.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Junior Annie Lineberger placed first in the pole vault with a mark of 3.80m, qualifying her for ECACs.
  • Sophomore Brenna McCormick (3.25m) and freshman Maura Switzer (3.25m) placed fifth and sixth in the pole vault.
  • Junior Obiamaka Igwenagu finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 11.24m.
  • Senior Jordyn Shubrick placed second in the shot put with a mark of 13.10m, a personal record.
  • Senior Meah Austin (10.90m) and sophomore Maura Campbell (10.67m) placed sixth and eighth in the shot put.
  • Shubrick earned another personal best in the hammer throw with a mark of 51.21m, good for second place and qualifying her for ECACs in the event.
  • Freshman Allison Schneider (1.56m) and sophomore Lindsay Marjanski (1.51m) earned fifth and sixth respectively in the high jump.
  • Junior Cymeria Robshaw (5.17m) and Igwenagu (5.09m) also placed fifth and sixth in the long jump.
  • Shubrick posted another personal record in the discus throw with 38.04m, good for sixth place.
  • In the javelin throw, junior Peighton Stirt earned eighth place with a mark of 33.46m.
  • In the 4x100m relay, junior Kate Ashley, freshman Yoma Avbovbo, senior Ashley Thomas and freshman Ella Grey secured second place in a time of 49.05.
  • Senior Kelsey O'Hara placed second in the 1,500m race in a personal best time of 4:44.2.
  • Senior Emily Koufos (4:49.16) and junior Caroline Robinson (4:52.54) earned fifth and sixth place in the 1,500m race.
  • In the 100m hurdles, Schneider (16.12) and Austin placed fifth and seventh (16.47).
  • In the 400m dash, Thomas placed fourth in a time of 58.03.
  • Senior Grace Hoelscher (2:15.30) and O'Hara (2:20.05) earned fourth and seventh place in the 800m event.
  • The Crusaders dominated the 400m hurdles. Ashley secured first in a time of 1:05.11, a personal best for the junior. Freshman Haley Murphy followed in second place in a time of 1:06.03. Senior Emma Hayes (1:07.19) and sophomore Kiley Ronan (1:08.17) also placed seventh and eighth respectively in the event.
  • Junior Eve Feuerbach (17:43.31) and senior Michaela Halloran (18:14.78) placed fourth and sixth in the 5,000m run.
  • Ashley, Thomas, Ronan and Murphy took first place in the 4x400m relay in a time of 3:58.93.

  • The Crusaders will return to competition at the UNH Invitational on Saturday, April 9.
