Men's track and field takes fourth at UMass Invitational

AMHERST, Mass.— The Holy Cross men's track and field team placed fourth overall at the UMass Invitational on Sunday, April 3 to begin the outdoor season.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
  • In the pole vault, senior TJ Duggan secured first place in the pole vault with a mark of 4.56m.
  • Freshman Kevin Yatsuhashi (5.97m) and freshman Brian Fennelly (5.90m) earned seventh and eighth in the long jump.
  • Senior Sean Fitzpatrick placed seventh in the shot put with a mark of 13.33m.
  • In the javelin throw, Will McAlpine earned a personal best and first place with a mark of 55.58m.
  • Freshman Aidan Bergin, junior Sean Flaherty, sophomore Chris Barone and Fennelly placed third in the 4x100 relay in a time of 43.37.
  • In the 100m hurdles, Fennelly (15.51), freshman Joshua Exantus (15.85), junior Cameron Lloyd (16.32) and Yatsuhashi (16.89) earned fourth, fifth, sixth and eighth place respectively.
  • Sophomore Matthew Conway (51.80) and freshman Andrew Van De Mark (52.07) placed fourth and sixth in the 400m dash. This marked a personal best for Conway.
  • Junior Jack Welch finished eighth in the 800m run in a time of 1:56.31.
  • In the 400m hurdles, Flaherty secured second place in a time of 56.36, a personal best for the junior. Lloyd earned sixth in the event in a time of 57.84.
  • Junior Liam Christman placed fourth in the 5,000m run with a time of 15:30.55.
  • The 4x400m relay team of sophomore Rigoberto Alfonso, Conway, Van De Mark and Welch placed fifth in a time of 3:28.16.

  • The Crusaders will return to competition at the UNH Invitational on Saturday, April 9.
