WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross baseball team fell to Army West Point, 15-3, on Wednesday, April 20 at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Army had a three-run first and earned a 7-0 lead by the third inning.
- Holy Cross got on the board in the bottom of the third. After back-to-back singles by sophomore right fielder Jake McElroy and freshman third baseman Brendan Jones, McElroy stole third and scored on a single up the middle by freshman designated hitter Sean Scanlon.
- A two-run, ground-rule double in the fourth inning gave the Black Knights a 9-1 lead.
- McElroy drew a bases-loaded walk to score sophomore shortstop Sam Kirkpatrick bring Holy Cross within 9-2 in the bottom of the fourth.
- A four-run fifth extended the Army lead to 13-2.
- Jones scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh to make it a 13-3 game.
- A bases-loaded walk and a groundout in the eighth scored two more runs for Army, making it a 15-3 game.
- Sophomore Michael Donahoe hit a one-out, pinch-hit double in the bottom of the ninth, but the Crusaders were unable to scrape across any additional runs in the contest.
DUE UP:
- The Crusaders head to Lafayette for a three-game Patriot League series on Saturday, April 23 and Sunday, April 24.
- First pitch of Saturday's doubleheader is set for 12 p.m.
