WORCESTER, Mass. — The Holy Cross men's tennis team dropped a close 4-1 match to Boston University at the Sinnott Family Tennis Facility. The Crusaders fall to 2-14 on the season, while the Terriers improve to 3-15 overall.
Holy Cross began the day by sweeping the doubles matches to take the doubles point. Junior
Declan O'Flynn and freshman
Diego Tran Rosado led the way with a 6-3 victory over Adrian Pawlowski and Johann Sajonz at the No. 1 spot. Sophomore
William Kelleher and sophomore
Connor Nelson downed Jonah Dickson and Dion Loutas 7-5 at No. 2, while freshman
Jeremy Clark and senior
Alexander Ruenhorst won 6-4 over Gabe Brown and Ben Letzer at No. 3.
In singles action, Boston University recorded straight-set victories at the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 spots to take a 3-1 lead. Letzer then edged out O'Flynn 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6 to clinch the overall match win for the Terriers. The other two singles matches were both stopped once the outcome was determined, with Kelleher (No. 1) and Ruenhorst (No. 4) both on serve in the third set.
The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, April 16, when they travel to Fordham for a 1:00 p.m. match.
