WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross baseball team fell in both ends of a Patriot League doubleheader against Navy on Sunday, April 10 at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field.
GAME ONE:
Navy 13, Holy Cross 4

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Navy put up seven runs in the top of the first inning, and added another pair in the third, to jump out to an early 9-0 lead.
- Junior Jordan Petrushka hit a pinch-hit double in the bottom of the fifth, and sophomore Patrick Casserly followed with a pinch-hit RBI triple to drive home Petrushka. Casserly then scored on a sac fly from freshman second baseman Connor Peek to bring the Crusaders within 9-2.
- Navy had a four-run seventh inning to extend its lead to 13-2. In the bottom of the seventh, freshman third baseman Brendan Jones and freshman designated hitter Sean Scanlon each hit a two-out RBI single, but the Crusaders could not cut any closer than 13-4.
GAME TWO:
Navy 20, Holy Cross 5

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Crusaders fell behind by a 7-1 margin through two and a half innings, with Holy Cross scoring on an error in the bottom of the second.
- Holy Cross began to chip away at the deficit in the bottom of the third, with Wolf hitting a two-run single. After Navy scored off an RBI double in the top of the fourth, the Crusaders cut within three runs, 8-5, after freshman catcher Andrew Whinney scored on a fielder's choice and freshman center fielder Connor Cooney singled through the right side to score Jones.
- Navy scored 12 unanswered runs to pull away with the 20-5 victory.
DUE UP:
- The Crusaders head to Bryant for a nonconference contest on Tuesday, April 12.
- First pitch in Smithfield, R.I., is set for 3 p.m.
