The Holy Cross women's lacrosse team will play its third straight road game when it heads to Army West Point for its Patriot League opener on Saturday, March 19, at 3:00 p.m.
Things to Know About the Crusaders (3-4, 0-0 PL):
• Holy Cross stands 3-4 so far this season and has won its last two games with victories over Long Island (15-11) and Merrimack (20-7).
• The Crusaders stand 12-18 all-time in their first Patriot League game of the season. Holy Cross has won three straight conference openers and own a 10-6 mark in league openers since 2005.
• Through seven games played this year, senior
Jolie Creo leads the Patriot League in scoring with 41 points on 28 goals and 13 assists. During the Long Island game, she totaled a season-best 10 points on six goals and four assists. Creo previously recorded a season-high seven goals and one assist against Brown, and has scored three or more goals six times this year. Over the course of her collegiate career, she has now totaled 109 goals and 39 assists for 148 points in 37 games played. Creo became just the 11th player in program history to score 100 career goals during the Bryant game.
• Senior
Jordyn Arakelian currently stands second on the team in scoring with 23 points on 10 goals and 13 assists. She has recorded at least one point in all seven of the Crusaders' games this season, while tallying a career-best six points on three goals and three assists at Merrimack. Over the course of her collegiate career, Arakelian has posted 16 goals and 18 assists for 34 points in 21 games played.
• Freshman
Isabela Miller has eight goals and one assist over the Crusaders' last two games, including a career-high six goals during the victory over Long Island. That marked the most goals by a Holy Cross freshman in a single game since Laura Ryan scored six goals against Bucknell on April 7, 2012. Miller now ranks third on the team in scoring this season with 16 points on 12 goals and four assists, while recording four multi-point games.
• Arakelian and Creo are joined by seniors
Lauren Cunning,
Grace Flink and
Margaret Mitchell as the Crusaders' captains this season.
Scouting the Black Knights (6-2, 1-0 PL):
• Army stands 6-2 overall this season with a 1-0 mark in the Patriot League. The Black Knights have won their last six games, including a 13-7 victory over Boston University last Saturday in their conference opener.
• Junior Kathleen Sullivan has led the team in scoring with 42 points on 25 goals and 17 assists so far this year. Sophomore Julia Gorajek is also off to a strong start with 24 goals and five assists for 29 points.
• Sophomore Lacey Bartholomay has started all eight games in goal for the Black Knights this season, posting an 11.64 goals against average with a .407 save percentage.
Series History:
• This will be just the sixth meeting between Holy Cross and Army, with the Crusaders leading all-time series 3-2.
• Holy Cross and Army last met on April 1, 2021, when the Black Knights posted a 13-10 victory in Worcester.
