For the second straight season, senior catcher Angelo D'Acunto of the Holy Cross baseball team has been named to the 2022 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award Watch List. 

D'Acunto ranks tied for fourth in all-time program history with 28 runners caught stealing during his career. During the 2021 season, D'Acunto earned All-Patriot League first team honors after batting .293 with six doubles, two home runs and 16 RBI. He led the team in runs scored (21), and additionally led the Patriot League with 16 runners caught stealing, ranking tied for fourth in single-season program history.

Formerly known as the Johnny Bench Award, 13 winners of the National Collegiate Catcher of the Year award have gone on to reach Major League Baseball, including Buster Posey and Mike Zunino. Nominations remain open for the watch list until May 4, with the semifinalists to be announced on May 19. Three finalists will be named on June 7, with the award to be presented on June 29 in Wichita, Kan., by the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission.
