The Holy Cross men's basketball team will play its second straight road game when it heads to Lafayette for a 7:00 p.m. contest on Monday, Feb. 21. The game between the Crusaders and the Leopards will be shown live by the Patriot League on ESPN+.
Holy Cross has won six out of its last nine games, including a 55-50 victory at Navy on Saturday. The Crusaders are tied for fifth place in the Patriot League at 7-8 and stand 9-18 overall. Holy Cross currently leads the conference in blocked shots (3.8 blocks per game) and ranks fifth in steals (6.2 steals per game) and free throw percentage (70.2 percent).
Senior forward
Gerrale Gates has led the team by averaging 15.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, while hitting 71.8 percent of his foul shots. Freshman guard
Kyrell Luc has also been playing well, with averages of 13.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.5 steals per contest. In addition, sophomore guard
Bo Montgomery has averaged 8.6 points and 2.8 boards per game.
Lafayette currently has an overall record of 9-17 on the season with a 6-9 mark in the Patriot League. The Leopards are coming off a 92-89 overtime loss at Bucknell on Saturday, but have won their last three home games. Junior forward Neal Quinn has led the team by averaging 14.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.3 blocks per game, while making 54.9 percent of his field goal attempts. Senior guard Tyrone Perry (11.3 points per game), sophomore forward Kyle Jenkins (10.7 points per game) and junior forward Leo O'Boyle (10.1 points per game) are also scoring in double figures this season.
After the contest with Lafayette, Holy Cross will return home to face Colgate on Wednesday, Feb. 23.
