ORONO, Maine – The Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team earned a victory for the second time this season defeating nonconference opponent Maine by a 159-141 score Saturday at the Stanley M. Wallace Pool.
The victory sends the Crusaders to 2-1 on the season while the Black Bears fall to 0-2. Holy Cross has started the season 2-1 in four of the last six seasons.
The Crusaders had a few top season long times during the meet. Freshman
Ainsley Nalen produced two individual first place finishes in the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.77) and a top season time of 59.53 in the 100-yard back while earning first in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:38.67).
Junior
Greta Walting had a pair of first place performances. Walting hit the wall first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:26.33) and had a top team time of 1:05.76 in the 100-yard breast. She was also part of the 200-yard freestyle relay first place team.
Senior
Madalyn Piasecki set the new 2022-23 team best time of 1:00.16 in the 100-yard butterfly while sophomore
Emmy Mazzacano recorded a 5:19.51 in the 500-yard freestyle which was a new low.
Holy Cross returns to the pool this weekend for the three day Harold Anderson Invitational at Rhode Island.
