The Holy Cross men's basketball team returns home to face Lafayette on Friday, Jan. 7, at 7:00 p.m. The contest between the Crusaders and the Leopards will be shown live by the Patriot League on ESPN+.
Holy Cross enters the game with an overall record of 2-12 and an 0-2 mark in the Patriot League. The Crusaders are coming off a 79-70 setback at Loyola (Md.) on Tuesday, and will be looking to snap an eight-game losing streak. Holy Cross currently leads the Patriot League in blocked shots (3.8 blocks per game), while standing third in three-point field goal percentage (35.5 percent) and fourth in steals (6.7 steals per game).
Freshman guard
Kyrell Luc has led the Crusaders by averaging 12.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game, while hitting 40.5 percent (15 of 37) of his attempts from three-point range. Senior forward
Gerrale Gates has also been playing well, with averages of 12.1 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest. In addition, sophomore guard
Judson Martindale has averaged 11.3 points and 4.6 boards per game.
Lafayette currently has an overall record of 3-8 on the season. The Leopards will be playing their first Patriot League contest of the year, after having their last two games postponed. Lafayette has not played since Dec. 22, when they defeated Gwynedd Mercy 87-66. Junior forward Neal Quinn has led the team by averaging 12.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.2 blocks per game, while making 52.0 percent (52 of 100) of his field goal attempts. Senior guard Tyrone Perry (11.8 points per game), sophomore forward Kyle Jenkins (11.7 points per game) and junior forward Leo O'Boyle (11.0 points per game) are also scoring in double figures this season.
After the game with Lafayette, Holy Cross will travel to Lehigh for a 7:00 p.m. contest on Monday, Jan. 10.
