WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior forward Gerrale Gates has been named the Hilton Garden Inn Crusader of the Week, for competition from Jan. 3-9. Gates averaged 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds as the Holy Cross men's basketball team split a pair of games last week.

Gates opened the week by recording 14 points and five rebounds during Tuesday's game at Loyola (Md.) Then in Friday's victory over Lafayette, he totaled 27 points, 14 rebounds, three steals and two assists. He tied his career high in scoring against the Leopards, while setting a new career high for rebounds. 

On the season, Gates leads the team with averages of 13.3 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Over the course of his Holy Cross career, he has now totaled 390 points, 198 rebounds, 41 assists, 21 steals and 13 blocked shots.

The Crusaders (3-12 overall, 1-2 Patriot League) return to action on Monday, Jan. 10, when they travel to Lehigh for a 7:00 p.m. game.
