WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior pitcher Kelly Nelson of Holy Cross softball has been named to the 2021 National Fastpitch Coaches Association's All-Northeast Region second team, as announced by the NFCA Thursday afternoon.

Nelson is the first Crusader to ever be named all-region twice in her career, having made the third team as a freshman. She is also just the third second team selection in program history.

The Norton native is one of just nine Patriot League players to be recognized at the all-region level. Five student-athletes were selected from Boston University, two from Lehigh, and one from Colgate.

Nelson finished the season ranked at the top of the Patriot League in almost every pitching related statistical category. She was first in batters struck out looking (44), second in strikeouts (120) and innings pitched (106.2), third in ERA (1.84), and fifth in opposing batting average (.224).

The all-region selection is the third postseason honor the junior has received this season, adding to her second team All-Patriot League and Academic All-Patriot League selections.
