WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross softball team will take on Albany on Wednesday, April 21 in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. at Freshman Field.
The Crusaders and Great Danes have matched up four times in their histories, most recently in 2003.
Things to Know About the Crusaders (6-9):
- Last time out, Holy Cross earned an 8-5 Senior Day victory over Brown which saw Jess Mott hit her first collegiate home run, five different Crusaders get action in the circle, and four different Crusaders come away with multi-hit games.
- Over the last seven games, dating back to the beginning of the Bucknell series, Erin Bengston and Bailey Chavez have led the team at the plate. Over that span, Bengston is hitting .353 (6-for-17) with two doubles, a home run, one run scored, six RBI, and four walks. Chavez's batting average during those same games is .363 (8-for-22) with one run scored and one stolen base.
- During those same seven games, Kelly Nelson has thrown 25 innings in the circle while posting a 1.40 ERA and 34 strikeouts. Megan Yurchick has gone 15.1 innings with a 3.65 ERA and 11 strikeouts. Peyton Morehouse has chipped in 5.2 innings, a 2.47 ERA and three strikeouts.
Things to Know About the Great Danes (12-16):
- Albany is coming off a three-game series last weekend with UMBC. The Great Danes won once, but dropped two games.
- On the season, Caitlyn Mitros' .358 batting average leads the team. Three Great Danes are tied for the team lead of seven home runs, while Katie Falotico's 29 RBI are a team high.
- In the circle, Albany is led by Wendi Hammond's 4.15 ERA and 60 strikeouts over 60.2 innings of work. Marando Jimenez has started nine games, a staff high, and posted a 5.89 ERA over 46.1 innings.
