Men’s track and field falls to Rhode Island on Senior Day

WORCESTER, Mass.— The Holy Cross men's track and field team dropped a dual meet to the Rhode Island Rams on Wednesday, April 21 at Hart Track. The Crusaders celebrated the careers of their seven seniors during the meet.

The Crusaders fell short the Rams by a score of 111-63.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Mike Mazzocca ran the fastest time of any Crusader this season, cruising to a first-place finish in a time of 14.53 in the 110 meter hurdles. Mazzocca also won the high jump event, posting a mark of 2.07m. His 2.07m jump is the second-best mark in the Patriot League this season.
  • Gabe Piepergerdes continued his dominance in the 400 meter hurdles, taking home a first-place finish with a time of 52.28. Piepergerdes has now run the two fastest 400 meter hurdle times in the Patriot League this season.
  • Christopher Wallace posted a personal best in the long jump, with a mark of 6.52m. He finished in second-place.
  • Michael Pichay won the triple jump with a mark of 15.04m. The mark would've bested Pichay's own school record, but it was above the wind allowance.
  • Will McAlpine posted a 50.85m in the javelin, claiming a third-place finish.
UP NEXT:
  • The Crusaders will head to the Patriot League Outdoor Championship beginning on Friday, April 30 in West Point, N.Y.
