Holy Cross places four on All-Patriot League men’s soccer teams

WORCESTER, Mass. – Four members of the Holy Cross men's soccer team have earned All-Patriot League honors, as announced by the conference office. Senior forward Max Krause was named to the first team, while senior defender Nick Hellmann-Rhodes, sophomore midfielder Matt McGonigle and junior forward Dylan Scanley were all third team selections.

Krause has started all three of Holy Cross' games this season, tying for second on the team with three points on one goal and one assist. He previously led the team in scoring during the 2019 campaign with 15 points on five goals and five assists. Over the course of his collegiate career, Krause has played in 51 games with 39 starts, totaling nine goals and 13 assists for 31 points.

Hellmann-Rhodes has started all three of the Crusaders' games on the defensive end of the field this year. He has been the leader of defense which has allowed just four goals this season for a 1.33 goals against average. During his four-year career at Holy Cross, Hellmann-Rhodes has now played in 29 games with 22 starts. 

McGonigle has been in the Holy Cross starting lineup for all three games so far this year. He leads the team in scoring with five points on two goals and one assist, while scoring one game-winning goal. Over the course of his career as a Crusader, McGonigle has played in 11 games with 10 starts, recording two goals and three assists for seven points.

Scanley has started all three of the Crusaders' games this season, tying for second on the squad with three points on one goal and one assist. He previously ranked second on the team in scoring during the 2019 campaign, when he totaled 11 points on five goals and one assist. In 36 career games played, including 28 starts, Scanley has now tallied six goals and two assists for 14 points.

Holy Cross, which stands 2-1 overall this season, will play at Lafayette in the semifinals of the Patriot League Tournament on Wednesday, April 14, at 7:00 p.m.
