Men’s track and field competes at tri-meet with UMass and Merrimack

AMHERST, Mass.— The Holy Cross men's track and field team opened its outdoor season at a tri-meet with the University of Massachusetts and Merrimack. 

MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Corey Kumamoto finished in first-place in the 800 meter with a time of 1:57.28.
  • Liam Christman (16:02.03) and Karter Seitz (16:04.82) placed second and third, respectively, in the 5000 meter.
  • Gabe Piepergerdes posted a blistering 52.94 in the 400 meter hurdles to take home a first-place finish. His 52.94 finish moves him into the 20th position on the NCAA East Regional list and second on the Patriot League performance list.
  • Will McAlpine got his outdoor career started on the right foot by winning the javelin with a mark of 52.19m.
  • Mike Mazzocca placed first in the high jump with a mark of 2.00m. He now sits in first-place on the Patriot League performance list. 
  • TJ Duggan won the pole vault on day two of competition.
