Volleyball to host Loyola, American

WORCESTER, Mass.— The Holy Cross volleyball team will host its final two home matches this season, as Loyola (Md.) and American come to town. The Crusaders will face Loyola first on Friday, Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. for Senior Day and will then host American on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 4 p.m.

The Crusaders will be celebrating Senior Day on Friday, and will honor their three-member senior class with a special pregame ceremony. The three Crusader seniors are Johnna Shamley, Skye Daval-Santos and Courtney Rasic.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT THE CRUSADERS (2-22, 1-12):
  • The Crusaders are coming off two tough Patriot League matches at home, falling to Colgate and Army last weekend.
  • Senior Skye Daval-Santos sits seventh in the Patriot League with a 4.17 digs per set average. That mark currently stands as the eighth-best season average in Crusader volleyball history.
  • Junior Halle Carter is averaging 6.75 assists per set, the seventh-best mark in the league.
  • Junior Gracyn Benck leads the Crusaders, averaging 2.52 kills per set, with freshman Abbie Lane just behind her averaging 2.38 kills per set.
SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS (14-9, 6-6 PL):
  • Loyola is riding is a four-game losing streak and most recently fell to Lehigh, 3-2.
  • The Greyhounds are led by three-time Libero of the Year and newly minted Patriot League All-time Career Digs leader, Katie Forsythe. Forsythe leads the league and sits second in the country, averaging, 5.79 digs per set.
  • Kacy Sekunda is the Greyhounds primary setter and is averaging, 9.63 assists per set, the second-best mark in the conference.
  • Loyola leads the league as a team, averaging, 13.64 kills per set.
  • The last time these two teams met earlier this season, Loyola won 3-0 (25-13, 25-9, 25-23).
A LOOK INTO THE EAGLES (15-11, 9-4 PL):
  • American is on a four-game winning streak, most recently topping Lafayette, 3-1.
  • The Eagles sit third in the conference in three categories, digs per set (15.16), service aces per set (1.46) and hitting percentage (.201).
  • Carlie Fiske has 190 kills on the season and leads the league in hitting percentage (.346).
  • Chiara Bosetti is fourth in the league in digs per set (4.64), while teammate Fanny Ahman is 10th overall (2.77).
  • American took the earlier meeting this season between the two squads, winning 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 26-24).
