WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross volleyball freshman outside hitter
Emma Sorensen has been named to the Patriot League Second Team announced by the conference Monday afternoon following a collection of votes by the league's head coaches.
Sorensen becomes the first Crusader since 2020 to earn postseason all-league honors (Clare Honan – All-Patriot League First Team, 2020).
The newcomer appeared in 28 matches for the Crusaders earning starts in 24 contests. She led the team in kills (310), kills per set (3.07), points (348.5) and points per set (3.45) while ranking third in aces (27), third in digs per set (1.96) and fourth in aces per set (0.27).
A one-time Patriot League Rookie of the Week (Sept. 30), Sorensen finished fifth in the Patriot League in kills, fifth in points, seventh in points per set and eighth in kills per set. In Patriot League matches, she ranked seventh in kills per set (3.11), eighth in points per set (3.55), ninth in points (195) and 10th in kills (171).
The Dallas, Texas native posted 17 double-digit kill performances and hit over .300 from the outside five times. She recorded seven double-double efforts with three coming in a row versus league opponents vs. Bucknell (Sept. 26), vs. Lehigh (Sept. 27) and at Lafayette (Oct. 11). Her best game of the season was a career-high 20 kill and 11 dig contest hitting .333 with two aces and a block against Lehigh (Sept. 27).
Holy Cross finished the 2025 campaign with a 9-23 record and 3-13 mark in Patriot League play. The nine victories were their most in a season since 2016 and three conference wins were their most since 2020.
