The Holy Cross men's basketball team returns to action on Monday, Nov. 15, when it travels to Quinnipiac at 7:00 p.m. The contest between the Crusaders and the Bobcats will be shown live on ESPN3.
The Crusaders stand 1-1 so far this year, defeating Regis (98-51) and falling to Boston College (85-55). Sophomore guard
Bo Montgomery has led Holy Cross by averaging 14.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game, while hitting 50.0 percent (five of 10) of his attempts from three-point range. Freshman guard
Kyrell Luc is also off to a strong start this season with averages of 13.0 points and 4.0 assists per contest. In addition, sophomore guard
Judson Martindale (12.0 points per game) and senior guard
Malcolm Townsel (11.5 points per game) are scoring in double figures. Now in their third year under head coach
Brett Nelson, the Crusaders are coming off an abbreviated 2020-2021 season in which they played only Patriot League foes and went 5-11 overall.
Quinnipiac stands 1-1 on the season, with a victory over Western New England (103-52) and a loss to Maryland (83-69). Junior guard Matt Balanc has led the Bobcats by averaging 21.0 points and 3.0 steals per game, while hitting 59.3 percent (16 of 27) of his field goal attempts. Senior guard Tyrese Williams has added 18.0 points and 2.0 steals per contest, while sophomore guard Tymu Chenery is chipping in with 10.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Quinnipiac is coming off a 2020-2021 campaign in which it went 9-13 overall with a 7-10 mark in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
After the contest with the Bobcats, Holy Cross will travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., to take part in the Sunshine Slam. The Crusaders will face Air Force on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 2:30 p.m., and then take on either Bethune-Cookman or Bryant on Sunday, Nov. 21.
