Holy Cross to face Lafayette on Senior Day

The Holy Cross men's soccer team returns home to take on Lafayette on Saturday, Oct. 30, at 12:00 p.m. This will be Senior Day at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium, with the members of the program's senior class being honored in a special pregame ceremony. The three Crusader seniors are Andres Chacon, Nick Hellmann-Rhodes and Max Krause.

Things to Know About the Crusaders (8-6-2, 5-2-0 Patriot League):
• Holy Cross stands 8-6-2 on the season with a 5-2-0 mark in the Patriot League. The Crusaders are currently tied for first place in the conference with Loyola (Md.).
• The Crusaders have been an outstanding second half team this season, scoring 18 of their 26 total goals after halftime. During the 4-1 victory over Bucknell, Holy Cross netted a season-high three second half goals.
• Holy Cross owns a 7-1-0 mark in home games so far this year. The Crusaders' had an eight-game home winning streak snapped when they fell 3-2 to Harvard on Oct. 19. That stretch tied the all-time program record for the longest home winning streak, matching the mark of the 2000 and 2001 teams which won eight straight home games from Oct. 24, 2000-Nov. 16, 2001. 
• Senior midfielder Max Krause is now in his fifth year with the Crusaders, after earning first team All-Patriot League honors in the spring of 2021. He currently ranks second on the team in scoring with 18 points on five goals and eight assists. During the Bucknell game, Krause scored two goals to lead Holy Cross to the win. Previously against Lehigh, he recorded the 19th assist of his collegiate career, breaking the school record which had been held by Wayne Mullin (18 assists, 1985-1988). Krause has now totaled 14 goals and 21 assists for 49 points in 67 career games played (56 starts), to rank ninth in school history in points.
• Freshman forward Evan Jones leads the team in scoring with 22 points on eight goals and six assists. Seven of his goals have come in the last 11 games, including the game winner in the Oct. 10 victory over Lehigh. Jones' 22 points on the year are currently the most of any player in the Patriot League and the fourth-most of any freshman in the nation.
• Freshman midfielder Jake Williams scored the first goal of his Holy Cross career during the Oct. 16 win over Bucknell. He also tallied an assist against the Bison to finish the game with a career-high three points. Overall this year, Williams stands fourth on the team in scoring with seven points on one goal and five assists.
• Holy Cross has been an excellent passing team this year, leading the Patriot League with 37 total assists. Krause leads the team with eight assists, followed closely by Jones with six. Krause's eight assists are tied for third place on the school single-season list, while Jones' six assists are tied for seventh.
• Krause, junior midfielder Matt McGonigle and junior defender Taj Salawu are serving as the Crusaders' captains this season.

Scouting the Leopards (7-7-2, 3-3-1 Patriot League):
• Lafayette owns a 7-7-2 overall record this season with a 3-3-1 mark in Patriot League play. The Leopards have lost their last three games and stand 2-6-0 on the road this year.
• Senior forward Marcos Kitromilides currently leads the team in scoring with 12 points on five goals and two assists.
• Senior Alex Sutton has started 13 games in goal for Lafayette, posting a 1.03 goals against average with 38 saves.

Series History:
• The Leopards hold a 25-8-7 lead in the all-time series between the schools, including three straight wins.
• The schools last met on April 14, 2021, when Lafayette posted a 2-1 victory in the semifinals of the Patriot League Tournament.
