WORCESTER, Mass. — Freshman
Caroline Fredey won in both singles and doubles action, as the Holy Cross women's tennis team posted a 4-3 victory over Assumption at the Sinnott Family Tennis Facility. The Crusaders improve to 5-2 on the season, while the Greyhounds fall to 4-8 overall.
In doubles action, Fredey and senior
Meg O'Melveny won 8-5 at the No. 3 spot, but Assumption had victories at both No. 1 and No 2 to take the doubles point.
Singles action began with Holy Cross posting wins at No. 1 (senior
Maddie DeNucci, 4-6, 6-1, [10-7]), No. 2 (freshman
Ahana Nagarkatti, 6-4, 6-1) and No. 6 (Fredey, 6-0, 6-0), while the Greyhounds had victories at the No. 4 and No. 5 spots. With the match tied at 3-3, everything came down to the No. 3 singles match, where freshman
Courtney Kallas won 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) to give Holy Cross the victory.
The Crusaders have concluded the fall portion of their season and will return to action in the spring of 2022.
