Women's hockey set for series with Franklin Pierce

The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team plays a weekend series against Franklin Pierce on Friday, Oct. 15 and Saturday, Oct. 16. The Crusaders host the Ravens at the Hart Center Rink on Friday at 6 p.m., before heading to Jason Ritchie Ice Arena in Winchendon, Mass., for a 3 p.m. puck drop on Saturday.

Things To Know About the Crusaders (0-4-0):
  • The Crusaders come off a pair of road losses against Penn State on Oct. 8 and 9.
  • Senior defenseman Emma Lange recorded three points during the series against Penn State, including a pair of assists in the weekend finale.
  • Freshman forward Mackenzie King had two points over the weekend, including her first collegiate goal on Saturday. Freshman defenseman Carmen Elliott also notched her first career goal in Saturday's contest.
  • On Thursday, Oct. 14, head coach Katie Lachapelle was named the head coach of the 2022 U.S. Under-18 Women's National Team. The U-18 team will compete at the International Ice Hockey Federation Under-18 Women's World Championship from Jan. 8 to 15 in Linköping and Mjölby, Sweden.

  • Franklin Pierce opened its regular season with a road series against Mercyhurst, falling in both games by scores of 9-1 and 1-0 respectively.
  • Sophomore Brooke Remington scored her first collegiate goal for the Ravens in Friday's contest.
  • Sophomore goalie Suzette Faucher made 41 saves in the Saturday tilt.
  • Franklin Pierce also played an exhibition against Northeastern, falling by a score of 4-2 in that contest.
  • In 2020-21, the Ravens played just two games; Franklin Pierce finished with a 21-11 record in 2019-20.  
Last Time They Met:
  • This marks the first meeting between the two teams since the 2017-18 season, when the teams faced off five times during that campaign.
  • The Crusaders won the first four matchups by a combined score of 20-3, but Franklin Pierce took the final game of the season, a 4-3 double-overtime victory in the third-place game of the New England Women's Hockey Alliance Open Tournament.
