WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman forward
Joe Pridgen has been named the 2019-20 Patriot League Rookie of the Year in men's basketball. Pridgen, who was also selected third team All-Patriot League and to the Patriot League All-Rookie Team, becomes the seventh Patriot League Rookie of the Year selection in school history.
Pridgen has averaged 17.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 0.5 blocked shots per game this season, while connecting on 55.2 percent of his field goal attempts (198 of 359). He currently ranks fourth in the Patriot League in scoring, sixth in field goal percentage, seventh in rebounding and 14th in blocked shots. Pridgen has scored in double figures 23 times this year, including 13 games with at least 20 points, while leading the team in scoring 15 times. He has scored 499 points on the season, needing one more to become just the third player in Patriot League history to score at least 500 points as a freshman.
Holy Cross (3-28 overall, 2-16 Patriot League), which finished 10th in the conference regular season standings, returns to action on Tuesday, March 3, when it travels to Bucknell for a first round game in the Patriot League Tournament. The contest between the Crusaders and the Bison is scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 p.m. from Sojka Pavilion.
