WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's hockey team travels to Vermont this weekend to take on the Catamounts on Feb. 15 and 16.
Scounting the Catamounts
• Vermont has been lead this season by Eve-Audrey Picard and her seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points. Picard has not played in the Catamount's previous nine games.
• Alyssa Gorecki leads the team in both goals (8) and power play goals (4).
• Melissa Black has logged the majority of minutes in goal for the Catamounts, while posting a .895 save percentage and a 2.93 goals against average.
• Vermont has converted on 12.3% of its power plays and killed 89.4% of its penalties.
Last Time Against Vermont
• Two weeks ago, the Crusaders hosted Vermont for a single game on Feb. 3. Holy Cross fell, 2-1.
• The Catamounts took an early 2-0 lead in the first quarter and that's where the score would stay until late in the third.
• With under five minutes remaining in the game, the Crusaders went on a 5-on-3 man advantage and Danielle Doherty was able to beat the goalie to put Holy Cross on the board. Emma Lange and Maeve Reilly assisted on the play.
• At 18:06, the Crusaders were called for a penalty of their own, grinding their comeback to a hault.
Recapping Last Weekend
• The Crusaders played a single game last weekend against then-No. 8 Boston University.
• Holy Cross held the Terriers scoreless in the first period, which was a big improvement from the two games against BU earlier this season, where the Crusaders surrendered a combined five goals in those two opening frames.
• Carlie Magier, with assists from Tori Messina and Julie Matthias, gave Holy Cross the lead thanks to a power play goal four minutes into the second period.
• The Terriers would score seven straight from there on out to end the game with a 7-1 victory.
Up Next
• The Crusaders will wrap up their inaugural season as a member of Hockey East next Friday, Feb. 22, when they host Providence at 7 p.m.
