Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men’s hockey edged by Canisius, 3-1

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Holy Cross men's hockey team was defeated at Canisius, despite a strong and consistent offensive effort. The Crusaders held the shot advantage in each period and finished with a 34-15 advantage but could only convert once. Conner Jean tallied his team-leading eighth goal.
 
Holy Cross held a 12-4 shot advantage in the first 20 minutes, including three power play chances but Canisius skated to the first intermission with a 1-0 lead from an early power play goal.
 
The second period saw another shot advantage for the Crusaders, as Holy Cross posted 13 to Canisius' seven. Just over midway through the frame, Canisius doubled their lead to 2-0.
 
The Griffs struck a third time early in the final frame, 3-0. The Crusaders continued to pressure offensively and broke through on the power play as Conner Jean scored his second-consecutive goal against Canisius.
 
Matt Radomsky made 12 saves in the game.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
1-0 CAN | 1st – 2:02 PP: Lee Lapid scored on a rebound on the power play.
2-0 CAN | 2nd – 7:21 EV: Nick Hutchison collected a rebound on the back post behind Radomsky to score.
3-0 CAN | 3rd – 5:56 EV: Hutchison connected on a loose puck in the high slot for a wrist shot just inside the post.
3-1 HC | 3rd – 8:15 PP: Mike Higgins collected a puck on the half wall and fed Pete Kessel below the goal line. Kessel walked the puck to the crease and found a wide open Conner Jean on the back door for a one-time goal.
 
NOTES & NUMBERS
  • With Jean's power play goal, the Crusaders have scored on the advantage in each of their last six games.
  • Holy Cross was dominant in outshooting Canisius, 34-15.
