WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's basketball team returns to action on Sunday, Dec. 29, when it travels to Siena for a 2:00 p.m. game. The contest between the Crusaders and the Saints will be televised live by My4 Albany and ESPN+, and can be heard on WEEI 1440 AM in Worcester.
Holy Cross owns an overall record of 1-11 so far this season. The Crusaders have dropped their last four games since picking up their first victory of the year against Mercer on Dec. 2 (81-67). Freshman forward
Joe Pridgen has led the team by averaging 16.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, while hitting 57.7 percent of his field goal attempts. Freshman guard
Drew Lowder has added 14.3 points and 3.3 assists per contest, while junior guard
Austin Butler is chipping in with 11.0 points and 8.3 boards per game. The Crusaders are in their first year under head coach
Brett Nelson, and are coming off a 2018-19 season in which they went 16-17 overall and 6-12 in the Patriot League.Â
Siena stands 4-5 overall this year and has won its last two contests. Sophomore guard Jalen Pickett has led the team by averaging 16.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game, while hitting 77.3 percent of his free throws. Senior forward Elijah Burns (16.0 points per game), junior forward Manny Camper (13.6 points per game) and sophomore guard Donald Carey (13.4 points per game) are also scoring in double figures for the Saints. Siena is coming off a 2018-19 season in which it went 17-16 overall and tied for second place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with an 11-7 mark in league play.
Following the game with the Saints, Holy Cross will open up Patriot League play at Loyola (Md.) on Thursday, Jan. 2, at 7:00 p.m.
