WORCESTER, Mass. – After taking a week off for finals, the Holy Cross men's basketball team returns to action on Sunday, Dec. 22, when it plays host to Sacred Heart at 12:00 p.m. The game between the Crusaders and the Pioneers will be televised live by NESN and the Patriot League Network, and can be heard on WEEI 1440 AM in Worcester.
Holy Cross owns an overall record of 1-10 so far this season. The Crusaders have dropped their last three games since picking up their first victory of the year against Mercer on Dec. 2 (81-67). Freshman forward
Joe Pridgen has led the team by averaging 15.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, while hitting 56.8 percent of his field goal attempts. Freshman guard
Drew Lowder has added 14.3 points and 3.3 assists per contest, while junior guard
Austin Butler is chipping in with 10.5 points and 7.5 boards per game. The Crusaders are in their first year under head coach
Brett Nelson, and are coming off a 2018-19 season in which they went 16-17 overall and 6-12 in the Patriot League.Â
Sacred Heart stands 6-5 overall this year, and had won four straight games before falling at Central Florida (76-65) on Dec. 15. Junior forward E.J. Anosike has led the team by averaging 16.4 points and 10.6 rebounds per game, while hitting 50.4 percent of his field goal attempts. Sophomore guard Koreem Ozier (14.8 points per game), senior guard Kinnon LaRose (11.4 points per game) and sophomore guard Cameron Parker (10.8 points per game) are also scoring in double figures for the Pioneers. Sacred Heart is coming off a 2018-19 season in which it went 15-17 overall and tied for third place in the Northeast Conference with an 11-7 mark in league play.
Following the game with the Pioneers, Holy Cross will have a week off for Christmas before returning to action at Siena on Sunday, Dec. 29, at 2:00 p.m.
