WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's basketball team will be back on the court this Friday, Nov. 22, when it plays host to Harvard at 7:00 p.m.. The contest between the Crusaders and the Crimson will be shown live on the Patriot League Network, and can be heard on WEEI 1440 AM in Worcester.
In support of the Worcester Fire Department and fallen firefighter Lt. Jason Menard, Holy Cross is holding a $5 for Ladder 5 ticket fundraiser. In honor of Lt. Menard and in support of his family, a special $10 ticket is available with $5 of each ticket donated directly to the Menard Children's Fund.
Holy Cross stands 0-4 so far this season, dropping its first four games to No. 7 Maryland, New Hampshire, Fairfield and Northeastern. Freshman guard
Drew Lowder has led the team by averaging 16.0 points and 3.5 assists per game, while hitting 36.0 percent of his three-point field goal attempts. Freshman forward
Joe Pridgen is also off to a strong start, putting up 11.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists per contest. In addition, junior guard
Austin Butler has averaged 8.3 points and 6.3 boards per game. The Crusaders are in their first year under head coach
Brett Nelson, and are coming off a 2018-19 season in which they went 16-17 overall and 6-12 in the Patriot League.Â
Harvard is off to a 3-2 start this year, defeating MIT, Maine and Siena, while falling to Northeastern and Buffalo. Senior forward Chris Lewis is averaging 9.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, while sophomore guard Noah Kirkwood has added 9.8 points and 3.5 assists per contest. Seven other players are averaging at least five points per game. Harvard is coming off a 2018-19 season in which it went 19-12 overall, tied for the Ivy League regular season title at 10-4 and advanced to the second round of the National Invitation Tournament.
After the contest with Harvard, Holy Cross will open play in the Boca Raton Beach Classic with a game at Florida Atlantic on Nov. 29.
