WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross head men's basketball coach
Brett Nelson announced today that three student-athletes have signed national letters of intent to play for the Crusaders.
DáJion "Bubba" Humphrey (Detroit, Mich.),
Judson Martindale (Sudbury, Mass.) and
Mike Rabinovich (Hopkinton, Mass.) will join the Holy Cross program in the fall of 2020.
"We are excited to announce the addition of these three young men to our program," said Nelson. "Bubba, Judson and Mike are high character people who are serious about both basketball and education. They are competitive, versatile, hard-working players from winning programs, and we expect them all to make an immediate impact for us next year."
Humphrey is a 6-foot-4, 175-pound guard who plays for head coach Clennie Brundidge at the Southfield Christian School in Southfield, Mich. He averaged 17 points and seven rebounds per game during his junior season, while earning first team all-state honors from the Associated Press. Humphrey helped lead Southfield Christian to state championships during his sophomore and junior years, and posted 20 points, six rebounds and five assists in the 2019 state championship game against Frankfort. He was also named to the Michigan Independent Athletic Conference Dream Team as a junior.
Nelson on Humphrey: "Bubba is a tough, versatile guard who can make an impact on both ends of the court. He is a great competitor who values defense and can play multiple positions on the offensive end."
Martindale is a 6-foot-6, 205-pound guard who plays for head coach Jamie Sullivan at Worcester Academy in Worcester, Mass. A three-year starter, he averaged 14.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game during his junior season, while hitting 58 percent of his field goal attempts and 51 percent of his three-pointers. Martindale scored in double figures 21 times during the 2018-19 campaign, including a season-high 27 points against Phillips Exeter Academy. He was named honorable mention Class AA All-New England and received the Lawson Riley Award as the team's most improved player as a junior. Martindale also helped the Hilltoppers to a 22-7 record and the No. 4 seed in the NEPSAC playoffs during the 2018-19 season.
Nelson on Martindale: "Judson can really stretch the defense with his ability to shoot the ball, combined with his overall skill level and athleticism. He will be a perfect fit for our up-tempo style of play."
Rabinovich is a 6-foot-10, 215-pound forward who plays for head coach Jamie Sullivan at Worcester Academy in Worcester, Mass. He totaled 13 points and six rebounds against Vermont Academy in the 2019 NEPSAC quarterfinals, while posting 10 points and five boards against nationally ranked Woodstock Academy. Rabinovich also helped the Hilltoppers to a 22-7 record and the No. 4 seed in the NEPSAC playoffs during his junior year. As a sophomore, he earned the Lawson Riley Award as the team's most improved player.
Nelson on Rabinovich: "Mike has been on a great trajectory, steadily improving throughout his high school career. He is a guy who can play inside or outside, which will allow him to make an impact for us on both ends of the court."
Holy Cross is currently in its first season under Nelson, and will be back on the court when it plays host to Northeastern on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 7:00 p.m.
